Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science (FNWI), part of Radboud University, engages in groundbreaking research and excellent education. In doing so, we push the boundaries of scientific knowledge and pass that knowledge on to the next generation.

We seek solutions to major societal challenges, such as cybercrime and climate change and work on major scientific challenges, such as those in the quantum world. At the same time, we prepare our students for careers both within and outside the scientific field.

Currently, more than 1,300 colleagues contribute to research and education, some as researchers and lecturers, others as technical and administrative support officers. Are you an optimistic, helpful and well organised team player with good communication skills, and with a background in biology, medical biology, molecular biology or life sciences? Then you may be the new Biology Education Officer we are looking for.

2. Job description

The Biosciences Education Team is searching for a Biology Education Officer. Together with the other education officers, you will be involved in preparing and supervising student laboratory work associated with multiple courses throughout the Biology and/or Medical Biology programmes. This includes working with different e-learning and online tools. As part of the job, you will also be responsible for the lab facilities and for managing and maintaining the inventory. You will work in close collaboration with scientific and educational staff and students.  

3. Profile

  • You should have a BSc (or MSc) degree in Biology, Medical Biology, Molecular Biology, Life Sciences or a similar field of study (broad background in biology).
  • You have affinity (or experience) with science, education, and working with students and scientific and educational staff.
  • Affinity (or experience) with medical biology and/or molecular biology is preferable.
  • You have a good command of English (C1/C2 level) and Dutch (C1/C2 level).
  • You are an optimistic and helpful team player with good communication skills, who can also work independently, who is assertive and well-organised, who can plan ahead, and who is also flexible (able to deal with ad-hoc tasks).

4. We are

The Education Team Biosciences is part of the Biosciences Education Institute of the Faculty of Science. The team plays a central and active role in developing, innovating and organising education, including lab education, within the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Biology as well as in the Master’s programme for Medical Biology at Radboud University. Additionally, the team coordinates the development of personal and professional skills throughout the programme (e.g. general study skills, report writing, laboratory skills, oral presentations, reflection, etc). The team plays an active role in signalling new opportunities and improving the Biology programme.

5. We offer

  • We will give you a temporary employment contract of 1 year.
  • Your salary within salary scale 8 depends on your previous education and number of years of (relevant) work experience. The amounts in the scale are based on a 38-hour working week.
  • You will receive an 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% end-of-year bonus. 
  • You will be able to use our Dual Career and Family Support Service.   • You will receive extra days off. With full-time employment, you can choose between 30 or 41 days of annual leave instead of the statutory 20.
